Because every student’s path can vary, it is very important to meet with an FLT Academy Advisor for a more precise estimate. A personalized estimate may be affected by factors such as the aircraft you qualify to train in, your training campus, any prior flight time or certificates, and other details specific to your situation.

FLT Academy Training Cost Estimator
This estimator is designed to give you a realistic idea of training costs at FLT Academy in a cleaner, step-by-step format.
You’ll answer a few short questions, then review a brief acknowledgement before your estimate is shown.
Our approach is different from other schools that may advertise pricing based on federal minimums, best-case scenarios, or “as low as” figures. Our goal is to provide a more realistic estimate based on actual student outcomes.
Enrollment Checklist Costs
Before training begins, there are a few enrollment-related items that are typically handled outside of your training estimate.
These are generally not included in the final estimate shown by this tool.
FAA Medical Certificate: Approximately $100 - $200
Drug Test: Approximately $40
Driving Record: Approximately $15 for Utah residents
Background Check: Approximately $20
Aviation Renters Insurance: Approximately $250 per year

We want to provide important context first, so the number you see is understood for what it actually represents.
What is included in the estimate
FLT Academy estimates are nearly all-inclusive. Depending on your selections, your estimate accounts for flight hours, fuel, books and materials, ground school, instructor time, FAA knowledge test fees, examination fees, EOC and practical test costs, and requested equipment such as a Bose A30 aviation headset and an iPad.
There are still a few items that are not included, such as enrollment-related documents and requirements, an iPad data plan, and aviation renters insurance.
How the estimate is built
Our estimates are based on real training data from past students in our program. We do not build estimates around federal minimums, best-case scenarios, or “as low as” marketing figures.
Because of that, students who stay highly consistent and perform well may finish below the estimate. FLT Academy is not a “use it or lose it” program. If funds remain at the completion of training, unused funds are refundable.

You won’t find a better place to get your training! Everyone at FLT has been extremely professional and have been as motivated as I am to complete every stage. I was one of the people that has been interested in aviation my whole life and just never took the plunge to do it.
